Tattershall Castle Moat Bridge

Tattershall Castle Moat Bridge

We have successfully completed the restoration of a third moat bridge at Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire. This project came with many challenges; not least that it required the removal and replacement of three and a half tonnes of English oak beams.

Our action plan required great deliberation and it initially involved closure of the main Grantham Road, some traffic management and notices to air traffic control that flight paths would be compromised for six hours while two articulated crane lorries plus a mobile crane - which out towered the castle itself, were put into place on the main road. Phew! Work was then able to commence with all the equipment and a seven-strong team of men. It was finished on time with a minimum of further fuss.
