Smiths of Derby Box

This box was created to present a symbolic key to the owner of a huge feature clock in China.

Created from quilted sycamore, the box is strung to the edge in ebony and features fine inlaid marquetry images of the clock and its mast. The lid bears the clockmaker's name Smith of Derby, inlaid into the centre.
