Whitehurst Box

This ziricote presentation box, banded in makassar and strung throughout in ebony, was created to house items relating to the maintenance of a notable piece of furniture. It was given to accompany a Whitehurst grandfather clock and was designed to hold its key, gloves and clock maintenance tools.

The Whitehurst name, which has been associated with precision and beauty by generations of clockmakers, is celebrated in inlaid marquetry on the box lid.
