Travelling The World
This beautiful tripartite box is created in walnut and is of dovetail form. It comprises three individual but stackable thematically linked boxes, each dedicated to an episode of an unfolding family life.
The story, told in fine marquetry, opens with a skilful kick from a rugby boot depicted on the back of the foundation box. The kicked ball is visible on the top box. Seemingly from the momentum of the kick, a series of images tumble across the box, including an unfurled flag. Each image is of symbolic import to the custodian of the box.
The top box is fitted with a concealed drawer and tray with tilting lid to house significant objects, whilst the lower two boxes are currently unfitted internally and without decoration – until new adventures impress upon life’s canvas.
The box is traditionally hand French polished to a silky-smooth beeswax finish.
