Restoration of the Crescent Hotel and Spa in Buxton
Wheathills is incredibly pleased and proud to have had a hand in the long-term and on-going restoration of the magnificent Grade 1 C18th Crescent Hotel and Spa in Buxton.
We were brought in to conserve the original Georgian mahogany doors of this nationally important building which was constructed in the 1780s by the fifth Duke of Devonshire.
Along with the rest of the building, the doors were badly damaged by water ingress during a long period of dereliction. Our team of craftspeople worked with scrupulous care to clean the damaged doors, repair their veneers and revive their original finish.
We totally agree with the current Duke of Devonshire that when restoration is fully completed the building will be “the jewel in the crown” of Buxton and beyond!
