Everest

A memory box created in burr walnut, banded in willow and strung to the edge in ebony. The lid is decorated with an open fan of quilted birch, inlaid with symbolic pine needles entwined with a monogram. Significantly, the interior lid is decorated with the North face of Mount Everest, which the recipient conquered on his 50th Birthday. A mountain image is foregrounded with life guiding sign posts: family, faith, adventure and career.

An interior tray is fitted to accommodate watches and pens, and has a tilting lid decorated with a cover page of the New Yorker magazine from the date of his birth. On removal of an internal tray, a private motivational phrase is revealed.

The box is traditionally hand French polished to a silky smooth beeswax finish.
