Aromatic Writing Table

The serpentine-shaped table features a top of flame walnut ,the markings of which suggest the sunrise and here symbolise a caring person who caters for the needs of others. Table edge is banded in burr camphor. The two timbers are divided by line work of ebony. The edge is cushion moulded on the end grain, above a serpentine frieze, fitted with three drawers. Each drawer is decorated at the top with a carved open rose knob. The legs are fitted to each corner on the angle, with a knuckle finely carved with acanthus, rose and bluebell. The floral carvings represent the significance of the garden and a bluebell wood to the recipient. The legs terminate into a mountain goat foot, representing the agility and innovation of an adventurer. A serpentine X frame beneath the table joints all four legs in the form of a scroll, terminating in an acanthus bud. At the centre is a cradle carved in rose and swag, which supports a spun carved and pierced pomander in which can be placed aromatic petals. All is traditionally hand French polished to a silky smooth beeswax finish.
